So, I just finished The Forty Rules of Love, and spoiler alert: it’s not just about love! Turns out, it’s got some golden nuggets for business, personal growth, and those “what am I even doing?” moments we all have. Here’s what I picked up along the way:
1. Embrace the Chaos (Because Plans Are Overrated Anyway)
The book taught me that life’s curveballs are basically the universe’s way of saying, “Surprise!” Whether it’s a business plan or your next life move, nothing goes as planned—ever. So, instead of stressing about control, just throw your hands up and roll with it. The magic happens when you stop trying to tame the chaos (and, let’s be honest, it’s more fun that way).
2. It’s All About Connections
Love, business, life—at the core, it’s all about relationships. But here’s the trick: it’s not about how many LinkedIn connections you rack up. It’s about genuine, meaningful connections. In business, it’s not just about closing deals—it’s about building relationships that last longer than your phone’s battery life.
3. Growth is Uncomfortable
The book hammers home that growth isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s more like “Why did I sign up for this again?” kind of moments. But that’s where the magic is—whether it’s in business, learning new skills, or just figuring out how to be a decent human. Growth feels weird at first, but hey, so does anything worth doing.
4. Success Isn’t Just About Winning (Sometimes It’s About Not Crying after a Meeting)
The Forty Rules of Love says success starts within, and honestly, that’s a relief. Turns out, it’s not about being the best at everything (because no one has time for that). It’s about aligning with your values, staying true to yourself, and occasionally giving yourself a high-five for just surviving the week.
So yeah, turns out love and business have more in common than I thought. Both are unpredictable, both require some level of chaos management, and both are better when you’re not afraid to be yourself—awkwardness and all.
